I am known on my forums as 21mags but commonly known as Maggie. I am nearly 67 and have been married to Jeff for nearly 48 years. We have 4 adult children and 5 grandchildren - 2 of which are grown up and 3 are youngsters. We live in the Midlands which is good for getting to most places.
I have been stitching since I was quite small, having been taught surface embroidery by my grandmother when I was about 5. I can knit, but it isn't my favourite occupation. I also crochet but not much over the last few years. I would love to tat and did start to learn but the lady moved and I have forgotten how to do the knot and the fancy bits. I love my stitching, especially crewel work and cross stitch and most counted thread work. I also do canvas work and various other types of craft when I have time. I am supposed to have all the time in the world now I am retired but it isn't true!!
We have four cats (we did have 5 but lost the 20 year old last week) and 2 dogs. 3 of the cats are quite old, one is 18 and the other two are 16 but the youngest is 9months old and she is a wicked terror. The dogs are a Lurcher aged 22 months old, she will be 2 in June and a rescue Patterdale Terrier who is of unknown age, but could be anything between 3 and 7 years. We incline to think she is nearer 7 than 3!!!
I am an avid reader and also an avid collector of dragons, owls, horses and bookmarks. I used to ride but have not done for a few years. I also love anything Celtic and have various Celtic embroideries both done and in my stash to do. I am currently tied up doing Margaret Sherry round robins and am rather behind in getting them done. I also have Rapunzel started for youngest granddaughter and need to get that finished as Maisie keeps asking when it will be done. She is 6 and doesn't realise the amount of work in a Theresa Wentzler piece. They are like HAED's, take some doing but worth it at the end.
I also sing alto in 2 choirs and we have just done a concert of Brahms German Requiem and Vaughan Williams Five Mystical Songs. Earlier in the year we did Haydn's Creation with the other choir. Our next concerts will be more 'lowbrow' as we are doing a Come and Sing Joseph with one and Folk Songs and Standards like Cole Porter's The Way you look tonight with the other choir. We are also singing Choral Evensong at Coventry Cathedral in July which I am looking forward to.
Must close now and do some stitching. Look forward to chatting with you.
