Well, it will be interesting to see what unfolds over the next few months. The latest news was so earth-shattering we had a small earthquake this morning (3.9)

There's a new statement issued today (in French) on the DMC site. It doesn't add anything
really to what we know - they're expecting a court hearing early in May.

Has anyone talked to their LNS owners? Maybe they are getting info we do not have access to.....it's not just floss but all the perle and specialty fibers
too...and the dye companies that depend on DMC for their base stock....they will have to find new suppliers at higher prices. I am still in hope that the DMC
color line will be preserved in some way. We will just have to wait and see.....

I emailed Stitches 'N Things in Michigan. It's my online shop as there isn't any store near me.
The owner replied and said she had a press release from DMC. The release was attached to my email. It just stated that DMC is going to seek a buyer/or buyers. She probably thinks I'm a crank because I said DMC is likely out of business. So, it seems she knows less than we do. I don't know if any LNS owners know much. I've thought about it, and I've decided if DMC goes out of business, I'll just stitch all the projects I have now and will not buy more to stitch. When I finish my projects, which will take years, that will be the end of my cross stitch hobby. It's sad, but I can move onto something else. I don't have the patience to hunt around for floss and hassle with prices. Everything is getting so expensive, it's probably time to call a halt to my buying and stitch what I have and be done with it. Carol |

I really don't think a shop would actually CLOSE because they couldn't get DMC. That seems a little extreme. There are other options out there, Anchor
being probably the closest equivalent, and I highly doubt a shop owner would close their business rather than switch to another available product. If this
isn't resolved, it certainly WILL affect all areas of the stitching industry, but I just don't see anyone throwing up their hands and closing the doors
of their store simply because they can't get DMC.

I agree, Emily. I don't think shops will close, because they have other inventory they can sell. But I believe
there will be a period of time where big adjustments will have to be made, i.e., popular designs that are already on the market will have to be changed and re-printed for stitchers who have not bought, i.e., Chatelaine. Stores will have to depend on more silks, and silk floss manufacturers will have to figure out a way to produce the silk floss faster and ship them faster to keep them in stock at LNS and online NS. Stitchers will demand that and so will the owners. There will be pressure on the silk floss manufacturers to produce or lose business. Cotton overdyed floss will probably become more popular, such as Vickie Clayton's. I really do believe if DMC is gone, Anchor will be the main floss sold, due to price. I don't know where Anchor comes from but I know I've bought some of it and I'm not a big fan of it. It's stiff compared to DMC and it takes me a long time to get it when I order it. As I said above, I really wish an American company would step in and buy DMC so we can get our floss. You'd think it wouldn't be that difficult in today's world. Carol |

DMC USA still in business | #27 | ||
|
A couple of the ladies on the Mirabilia and Enchanted fabric bulletin boards who are DMC mentor members have received emails from DMC USA telling them they
are not financially attached to DMC in France and that the clothing lines and boutique shops in France are the only things closing down. The ladies have posted
the emails on the BB for anyone to look at. So the long and short of it is that DMC is still around and will keep on going strong.

Yes, I posted a separate thread about the same email, which I received because I'm a
mentor also. We'll see what happens. Carol |
