In Medieval times, in Cloisters as well as in noble homes, people did not only want to plant vegetables and food, but they found pleasure and solace in beautifully walled gardens, protected from the view of other then the owners. There they raised scented flowers like lavender and roses and had small ways of walking from where they could see and watch their plants closely. This HORTUS here now can be stitched with various threads and fibers, embellished with beads and sparklies – and a LOT of Special Stitches to give dimension and texture. You will count, weave, wrap and embroider to create a tactile garden with tiny and detailed flowers and grasses….. Group begins June 2012 and ends May 2013.
This is the follow-up to the "WINTER WONDERLAND" - matching the actual season. I added a stork couple with their nest, as these are typical for quite some areas in Germany. We will use DMC cottons as well as some variegated silks and effect threads for dimension, as well as beads and sparkly crystals. Group begins July 2012 and ends June 2013.
This Mandala shows the beauty of the ice-scape of both Polar Caps, the animals which manage to survive in this hard part of the world and in the center a landscape picture of Polar lights, which you can stitch "over two" - or, for the daring, "over one". Group begins Oct 2012 and ends Sept 2013.
This piece will be a true CHALLENGE for the experienced stitcher. The main part – the Chinese Teahouse – is entirely stitched “over one” for shading and details…. Backstitching in various gold metallics adds the golden shimmer of the original! The surrounding forest and bush are “normal” cross stitches – the skies fade in half crosses…. In the front you will see textured buxus and topiaries…. Class begins November 1, 2012 and ends October 30, 2013.
September sunlight is so pale, and the skies are grey. Fogs in early morning soften all colors, and my Hydrangeas fade to the most exquisite shades of greyish purples, blues, fraises and creams…. So it was all natural to start designing after a stroll through the garden! Start date is November 2012 and it ends October 2013. This design will be published in 4 parts.
Just imagine a cold + icy night in the snow-covered mountains -all is clad in shades of blues, light purples, where the setting sun has lit a few clouds quite some time ago.The silhouettes of fir trees grow against the star sparkling night sky, where the moon's crescent sets and a comet stands in the dark, indicating THE night of the nights.A tiny chapel with golden light trickling out of window + open door, spends light + warmth in this cold night. Through the snow shepherds are trudging their ways, bringing home the animals. All this miracle is kept in this one picture, without any cutesy elements, just the stunning winterworld mountains. The solace of light shining in darkness and the shepherds, one of them looking up to SEE the wondrous star shining there above all. Begins Dec. 2012 and ends Nov. 2013.
Pictured will be colors and plants of Lake Como, together with some of the Villas there – in beautiful shades of ochre, terracotta and cream, offsest by the changing blues of the lake- from greyish blue to “carribean” turqoises, depending on weather and light. Deep green vegetation of the nearby Mediterranean gives a lovely contrast. Trees and flowers of warmer areas adorn the parks, be they hidden and private or public. class begins December 1, 2012 and ends November 30, 2013.

Behind ancient walls of an old Cloister you can see the protected garden, which gives fruit and herbs inspite of rough winds outside. This piece now uses some of them for an utterly romantic view of a starry and warm night in the South Seas: A beautiful Vahine is dancing at the shore, while the Moon is rising. Palmtrees are bare silhouettes against the night sky, where here and there some stars twinkle…… Shells are washed ashore and show their Mother-of-Pearl colors darkened by the nightfall, and the tropical flowers look sombre too. A few pearls have been gathered in an open shell and you may just step into the picture and listen to the soft music…. Class begins July 2013 and ends June 2014.

secret extra, the real flowers have !) Class begins Aug 2013 and ends July 2014.
